PHD Announces the Addition of Fig. 055 Surge Restraint to Fire Protection Line
PHD Manufacturing, Inc. announced Monday, January 4th, 2010, the availability of the new Figure 055 – Surge Restraint. “This product further enhances our sprinkler product line,” stated Rick Persing, National Sales Manager-Sprinkler Division. The spring steel figure 055 Surge Restraint is designed to comply with NFPA 13 standards restricting the upward movement of activated fire sprinkler systems when used in conjunction with PHD’s figure 141 Ring Hanger. It is powder coated and is available for ¾” through 2” IP pipe sizes. It installs easily before or after pipe installation and without tools. The figure 055 is Underwriters Laboratories listed for the US and Canada. PHD Offers Two New Items -- Figure 632 - Steel Center Load Beam Clamp andFigure 906 - Steel Side Beam Connector
PHD Manufacturing, Inc. announced Friday, December 4th, 2009, the addition of two new items; Figure 632 – Steel Center Load Beam Clamp and Figure 906 – Steel Side Beam Connector to our hanger product line. The figure 632 Steel Center Load Beam Clamp is designed to be used in the suspension of a hanger rod from the center of an I-beam. The clamp’s design allows the load to be distributed equally on either side of the beam. The clamp is adjustable and normally used in conjunction with our figure 35 Weldless Eye Nut. It is available in plain, electro-galvanized, and hot dipped galvanized finishes. The figure 906 Steel Side Beam Connector is designed for attaching hanger rod to wood structures and can be secured with one figure 45 lag screw or two figure 48 wood drive screws. It replaces PHD’s figure 907 and 908 by combining both designs into one universal design, providing greater flexibility at the time of installation. PHD Adds CPVC Pipe Straps to New Fire Protection Line
Rick Persing, National Sales Manager-Sprinkler Division of PHD Manufacturing, Inc. announced Thursday, October 1st, 2009, the addition of PHD’s new CPVC Pipe Straps designed for use in the fire protection industry. They are available in four models for 3/4 inch to 2 inch pipe sizes.
PHD’s CPVC Pipe Straps are made from pre-galvanized steel and feature flared edges to protect piping as it slides through the installed fitting. They may be installed onto wood using the supplied #10 x 1” 5/16" hex head screw fasteners, no pre-drilling required. Alternatively, they may be installed into steel using 1/4” x 1” tek type screws (sold separately). These products are made in the USA and are competitively priced. PHD Manufacturing, Inc. and Mechanical Pipe Shields Manufacturing, the maker of SNAPPITZ PVC Insulated Pipe Supports, have formed a strategic partnership that allows PHD to act as a distributor for these products. These revolutionary pipe supports are constructed of a self-locking PVC jacket with polyisocyanurate or phenolic foam insulation for 1" - 3" wall thicknesses. The standard lengths are 4 inches of insulation and jacketing for pipe 1/2” – 2” and 6 inches of insulation and jacketing for pipes 2-1/2” – 5”. Longer lengths are available upon request. SNAPPITZ pipe supports can be used for cold water, air, dual temperature, hot water, chilled water heating, and clean room applications.

PHD Announces New 1900 Series 12 Gauge Telescoping Channel Strut
PHD Manufacturing, Inc. is pleased to announce our new Telescoping Channel. The 1900 Series Telescoping Channel Strut System allows for vertical and horizontal adjustment. It can be secured at any point along the channel or at the conveniently located 9/16” holes, on 1-7/8” centers, on three sides. It also accommodates many standard strut fittings. The Telescoping Strut dimensions are 1-7/8” X 1-7/8” X 12 gauge and fits over 1-5/8” X 1-5/8” X 12 gauge three hole strut. It is available in 10’ and 20’ lengths and in pre-galvanized, powder-coated, plain, and hot dip galvanized finishes.

Joe Corvino, President of PHD Manufacturing, Inc. announced Friday, April 3rd, 2009, the release of the new 1800 Series 1-5/8” X 13/16” X 16 Gauge Channel Strut. The 1800 Series of Channel Strut is approximately 20%-40% lighter than our 14 gauge 1300 Series and our 12 gauge 1200 Series Channel Strut. It is available in 10’ and 20’ lengths and in pre-galvanized, powder-coated, plain, and hot dip galvanized finishes.
The 1800 Series of Channel Strut is designed for applications with a reduced weight load requirement. Corvino states, “Our customers require products suited to their particular job specifications. Safety is Priority #1 at PHD
On 05/22/09, members of the PHD Family who work at the 44018 Columbiana-Waterford Road, Columbiana, Ohio, facility proudly posed for a group photo representing 1,167 Days without a lost time accident. Each employee received a safety award of a beverage cooler imprinted with the PHD logo. A catered luncheon followed.
For the past 14 years, employees and management of PHD Manufacturing, Inc. have actively worked together to support an in house Safety & Health Program. Both employees and management meet together monthly for plant inspections and safety meetings, where steps are taken to recognize and prevent potential safety concerns. Anthony Kopatich, CEO, stated, "PHD is proud of the success of our safety program. We recently achieved three years without a lost-time accident, thanks to the efforts of everyone involved."

The company then assigned Sue Dotson to lead the project. "I look forward to teaming up with Beth Basista and Miles Oldenburg at Techni-Graphics to see the creative ideas and functionality of the site come together," said Sue Dotson, PHD's in house webmaster. "I like having the ability to make updates to the product pages in house and to evaluate the traffic coming to the site also. PHD is now prepared to keep up with online Internet traffic that will support continued growth into the future," she added.
